Lovely Dogs

Two paper bookmarks with dogs from the USA. There was a time when I had the sharpei dog named Bugo, and I can say he was really stubborn and not so cute as in photos:) I put the photo of my dog below.

American Flag

A magnetic bookmark with the American flag. You clip it over a page and the opposed magnets keep it from falling. Also, it doesn't stick out of the book, if you prefer. Maybe the most inobtrusive type of bookmark.

George Eliot

A metallic bookmark with a great quote from the English writer George Eliot. I want to thank Dorin from the USA for this bookmark!

Some information about G. Eliot:
Mary Anne Evans (22 November 1819 – 22 December 1880), better known by her pen name George Eliot, was an English novelist. She was one of the leading writers of the Victorian era. Her novels, largely set in provincial England, are well known for their realism and psychological insight.

She used a male pen name, she said, to ensure that her works were taken seriously. Female authors were published under their own names, but Eliot wanted to ensure that she was not seen as merely a writer of romances. An additional factor may have been a desire to shield her private life from public scrutiny and to prevent scandals attending her relationship with the married George Henry Lewes.

Egypt

I bought these papyrus bookmarks during my holidays in Egypt!

Egyptian hieroglyphs ("sacred carving") was a formal writing system used by the ancient Egyptians that contained a combination of logographic and alphabetic elements. Egyptians used cursive hieroglyphs for religious literature on papyrus and wood.

Cute Animals

Here we are - four cute fluffy animals! Reading with us is a more entertaining activity.
